The Stark Reality of Poverty:
Even in affluent Austria, 17.5% of the population (1.55 million people) are at risk of poverty or social exclusion, with children, the elderly, and those without citizenship disproportionately affected. Globally, the World Bank reports 333 million children live in extreme poverty, deprived of basic needs and dignity. The UN estimates over 700 million people survive on less than $1.90 per day, while 1.3 billion live in moderate poverty. These numbers, representing nearly 30% of the world’s population, are escalating due to economic and climate instability, with homelessness also on the rise.
Our Response: Faith in Action:
In the face of these challenges, we turn to the profound wisdom of our Christian heritage. We believe in embodying love, compassion, mercy, justice, and empathy, as taught in scriptures like
- Micah 6:8 …. Quote “He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”
- Matthew 23:23 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill, and cumin—but you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy, and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.“, and
- 1 John 4:16…. “And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.”
Living Voice: Our Mission and Vision:
The Living Voice for People in Need (LIVE) is dedicated to empowering vulnerable individuals and communities utilizing Christly love. Our mission is to provide basic human needs, foster moral development through faith, and support digital competence. We extend care and compassion to all, regardless of background or faith, believing in the universal value of every life.
Our vision is a world where every human life is treasured, where care, compassion, basic needs, digital competence, and Christian moral values are accessible to all. We believe, as Genesis 11:6 suggests, that unity and collective action can achieve the seemingly impossible….. “The LORD said, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them.”
Love and Faith in Practice:
We believe love is the universal language of humanity, a divine voice that transcends all boundaries. Matthew 25:35-36 reminds us of our duty to care for the hungry, thirsty, and vulnerable quote “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.” James 1:27 calls us to authentic faith, demonstrated by caring for orphans and widows quote … “Pure, unstained religion, according to God our Father, is to take care of orphans and widows when they suffer and to remain uncorrupted by this world.”
