Building Hope, Brick by Brick: Our January 2025 General Meeting and the Road Ahead
The air in our January 2025 General Meeting was charged with a mix of reflection and resolute determination. The Founders in calling this meeting, set the stage for a candid look at our journey thus far – a journey marked by both challenges and unwavering commitment. We gathered, a team largely working remotely, to map out our next steps, to build upon the foundation laid, and to reignite our collective passion for The Living Voice for People in Need (LIVE).
A Year of Trials and Triumphs:
As our Chair’s report highlighted, 2024 was a year that tested our resilience. Financial, economic, and environmental pressures, including devastating national floods, impacted us all, personally and collectively. These hurdles inevitably slowed our progress. Yet, as we affirmed, delay is not denial. Our first priority was to ensure the stability of our core members, attending to home and family needs before extending our focus outward.
Despite these obstacles, we celebrated key milestones. We secured a post office box and gathered banking information, possible office space explorations and strategizing various other needs – all crucial steps in our organizational development. Our website, though still evolving, saw significant progress in content management. These achievements, however small, were hard-won victories.
One of our most significant challenges was the recruitment of treasurers and the finalization of our bank account setup. These hurdles underscored the complexities of starting a charitable organization, especially in a landscape fraught with external pressures. Yet, our commitment remained steadfast. We are determined to propel LIVE to the next level.
Laying the Groundwork for Growth:
Our Vice Chairman’s report painted a picture of diligent groundwork. The official establishment of our association in February 2024, following the completion of our statutes, was a landmark moment. We explored potential office locations and delved into the intricacies of setting up our bank account. We reached out to potential treasurers, considered logo designs, and researched other Christian charities, learning from their structures and online presence. We also investigated potential memberships all testament to our commitment to collaboration.
We launched a communication groups for seamless learning, communication and information sharing and etc. While much remains to be done, we are driven by the profound need for our work.
Strategic Planning: Charting Our Course:
The heart of our meeting was a strategic planning session, where we revisited our mission and vision. We reaffirmed our commitment to providing basic human needs, enhancing morals through faith, and supporting digital competence for vulnerable individuals and communities. Our vision – a world where every human life is treasured – remains our guiding star.
We broke down our strategic plan into key areas: community engagement, basic needs support, digital competence, financial sustainability, website development, volunteer recruitment, branding, membership in external networks, and faith and moral development. We set clear priorities, short-term and long-term goals, timelines, and key performance indicators. We also decided that we would begin to connect with local churches to help monitor and maintain diligence in our projects.
Looking Ahead: Building Our Future:
As we move forward, we are focused on:
Fundraising: Establishing a robust fundraising committee and launching strategic campaigns to secure financial stability.
Human Resources: Recruiting dedicated volunteers and professionals to fill key roles, including treasurers.
Office Space: Securing a humble yet functional office space, ideally on the right bank, to serve as our operational hub.
Church Implementers: Working with local churches, to help with local projects, and also help to monitor and maintain progress.
Website Development: Completing our website to serve as a central hub for information, donations, and volunteer opportunities.
Community Outreach and Events: Expanding our reach and impact through local partnerships and awareness campaigns.
Our journey is a testament to the power of collective action and unwavering faith. Like a house built brick by brick, we are building a foundation of hope and empowerment. We invite you to join us, to be a part of this transformative journey.
